divh2Food Nutrition Services Assistant/h2pPrimary Purpose:/ppTo support the Food Nutrition Services (FNS) Department by performing meal preparation, service, cashiering, and cleaning duties at the school campus. Requires individuals with the ability to maintain records of amounts of food prepared and leftover for program accountability. Adhere to a high level of safety and sanitation standards./ppQualifications:/ppEducation/Certification:/pulliAccredited Senior High School Diploma or valid equivalent (USA equivalency) preferred/liliThree months food service experience preferred/liliEffective planning and organizational skills/liliMust be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language to perform functions/li/ulpSpecial Knowledge/Skills:/pulliResponsible for preparing food and beverages for breakfast, lunch, and supper and other programs according to standardized recipes and guidelines to serve students and staff in a safe and efficient manner/liliComplete meals according to the departments standardized recipes; check and report the availability of food and supplies to the Cafeteria Manager in advance of food preparation/liliProperly use and maintain equipment in the preparation and service of meals, reporting malfunctions promptly to the Cafeteria Manager/liliPerform cashier, dishwashing, cooking, prepping, and meal-serving duties as instructed by the Cafeteria Manager. Keep count of meals served and monies collected and record the temperature of food, refrigeration, and freezer equipment, as directed./liliComply with sanitation standards as established by the City Health Department and FNS./liliAssist with proper storage of food and supplies as instructed by the Cafeteria Manager./liliSet up, monitor and replenish the serving station, as required/liliServe meals to customers as directed by the Cafeteria Manager, ensuring correct portion sizes, meal requirements, and time standards as established by the department/liliRead labels and use appropriate chemicals to clean and sanitize equipment, work area, and utensils/trays/liliClean cafeteria and/or kitchen area, which includes picking up trash, sweeping and mopping floor, cleaning equipment, putting trash cans in proper location, and wiping down tables/seating/liliAttend training (s) as scheduled/liliPerform all other duties and tasks assigned/liliAll federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate/li/ulpSupervisory Responsibilities: None/ppMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:/ppTools/Equipment Used: Ovens, tilting skillets, institutional dish machines, serving equipment, walk-in freezers and coolers, reach-through refrigerators and warmers, mixers, immersion blenders, steamers, hot water dispensers, food preparation and serving utensils, ladders, carts, racks, hand trucks, dollies, cash register, computer, office equipment/ppPosture: Frequent pushing, pulling, overhead and below waist reaching, bending, stooping; frequent use of hands and fingers to grasp, handle, and manipulate food; frequent use of upper and lower body to sweep, mop, and clean floors; visual acuity to identify basic colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and adjust focus/ppMotion: Continuous standing and walking briskly, on hard surfaces, unassisted, for length of scheduled work hours/ppLifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-50 pounds with assistance, and more than 50 pounds with appropriate assistance/ppEnvironment: Work inside; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, humidity, wet conditions, and loud noises; occasional exposure to high places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; exposure to risk of electrical shock; work around machinery with moving parts/ppMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, the rapid pace required during meal service/ppThe information contained in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills that may be required.
