Vargo Physical Therapy Job Title: Staff Physical Therapist Reports To: Physical Therapy Director Summary Provides physical therapy services for patient care through evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning. Assists in the supervision of and delegates to supportive personnel by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities Recognizes and interprets physical therapy referrals and orders. Performs proper and appropriate medical review prior to providing therapeutic interventions. Interprets information to determine appropriate plan of care for each individual patient. Designs and implements a treatment plan that will help the patients to achieve optimal level of function. Completes comprehensive physical therapy evaluations efficiently and effectively. Documents concisely all information pertinent to the course of physical therapy treatment in patient’s chart after each visit. Prepares patient care/progress notes and other required forms as requested. Prepares plans for patient discharge. Documents treatments rendered on billing sheets and in appropriate patient charts. Submits administrative paperwork such as billing, referrals, discharges, and scheduling to the Clinical Director in a timely fashion. Delegates duties to aides appropriately and reasonably. Shares in the responsibility in educating the supportive staff appropriately in treatment techniques. Maintains current knowledge of Physical Therapist roles and continues trends in the industry. Operates and applies knowledge of standard physical therapy equipment such as ultrasound equipment, nautilus equipment and other exercise machines. Assumes the responsibilities of the Clinical Director in his or her absence. Demonstrates efficient time management. Communicates with the patient, patient’s family, physician and co-workers in a professional manner. Promotes the safety of all staff and patients at all times. Greets patients in a friendly manner when patients arrive and leave the office. Assists in maintaining patient compliance by clearly communicating to the patient expected frequency of appointments and home program. Establishes priority treatments when necessary. Maintains and properly cares for clinical equipment. Participates in scheduling and clerical duties when needed. Works at other Vargo Physical therapy locations as needed. Attends scheduled staff meetings. Participates in the education of student affiliates when indicated. Provides feedback to supportive staff on an ongoing basis. Demonstrates professional conduct at all times as a representative of Vargo Physical Therapy. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director.
