This is a full-time position with one of our closest startup clients building an innovative platform focused on economic development, investment intelligence, and AI-driven analytics.

We're looking for a highly motivated Mid-Level to Senior Software Engineer who enjoys building products from the ground up and wants meaningful ownership over both the technology and the product.

This is an opportunity to join an early-stage engineering team where you'll work directly with the founder, help mentor junior developers, influence technical direction, and build software that has the potential to impact how governments, investors, and businesses make investment decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain full stack web applications
• Develop scalable backend APIs and services using Python and FastAPI
• Build modern frontend experiences using React and TypeScript
• Collaborate directly with the founder to shape product direction and technical priorities
• Mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering best practices
• Build integrations with public and third-party data sources
• Design and develop analytics dashboards, reporting experiences, and data-driven product features
• Participate in architectural and technical decisions as the platform evolves
• Design and work with PostgreSQL databases and application data models
• Build and maintain cloud-native application infrastructure on AWS
• Leverage AI-assisted development workflows throughout the software development lifecycle
• Help establish development processes, standards, and technical practices as the engineering organization grows
• Take ownership of features from initial requirements through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement

Some Must-Haves:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience for Mid-Level candidates or 7+ years for Senior candidates
• Strong experience building and shipping production web applications
• Professional experience with Python and modern backend development
• Strong experience with React and TypeScript
• Experience designing, building, and integrating RESTful APIs
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS
• Ability to work effectively across frontend and backend systems
• Comfortable working in startup or other fast-moving, high-ownership environments
• Ability to operate independently and solve problems with minimal oversight
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar as part of daily development
