Functional Responsibilities

1. Direct Daily Operations

• Assists in performing routine maintenance and repairs on distribution center equipment, including conveyors, forklifts, material handling systems, and other machinery.
• Conducts daily inspections of equipment to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs or preventative maintenance.
• Performs routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and minor repairs of building services and systems.
• Handles chemicals and electrical systems with care, following established safety protocols.

1. Communication and Collaboration:

• Responds promptly to service requests from operations and other departments, ensuring minimal disruption to daily activities.
• Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors about maintenance activities, equipment status, and safety concerns.
• Collaborates with maintenance and operations teams to coordinate repairs, maintenance schedules, and upgrades to ensure minimal downtime
• Provides technical support for facility-related issues as needed, working in partnership with the broader maintenance team.

1. Continuous Improvement

• Contributes to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes by identifying recurring issues and recommending solutions to prevent future occurrences.
• Participates in ongoing efforts to improve safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability within the distribution center.
• Supports the implementation of maintenance best practices, new tools, and technologies to optimize performance.
• Tracks maintenance activities and assist with reporting maintenance data to help with performance analysis and future planning

1. Continuing Education

• Participates in training sessions and development opportunities to stay current with new maintenance techniques, equipment technologies, and safety regulations.
• Maintains knowledge of industry standards and best practices for equipment maintenance and facility management.
• Stays informed about changes in safety regulations, chemicals, and other technical updates that may impact maintenance activities.
• Seeks opportunities for cross-training to support other functions within the maintenance team.

Education/Qualifications

• REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of facility systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 pounds on a consistent basis, with the ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces as necessary for specific maintenance tasks.
• PREFERRED
  • Technical certifications in maintenance or related fields (e.g., HVAC, electrical, mechanical).
  • Previous experience in a maintenance role within a distribution center or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with industrial maintenance software or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and experience with equipment troubleshooting.

Experience

• REQUIRED
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance or a similar role, particularly within a warehouse, distribution center, or industrial setting.
  • Proven experience operating basic material handling equipment as forklifts, scrubbers, balers, and basic hand tools.
  • Practical understanding of maintaining and troubleshooting basic mechanical systems, electrical components, and small equipment.
  • Experience working in compliance with safety standards and procedures in an industrial or warehouse environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues with minimal supervision.
• PREFERRED
  • Over 2 years of experience in building/facility maintenance, preferably in a distribution center or manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, Forklift Certification, Maintenance Technician Certification) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with specialized systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, or conveyor systems.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and practices aimed at reducing downtime and increasing equipment lifespan.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, safety, and management) to resolve issues and maintain operations.
