Sr Project Cost Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Sr Project Cost Analyst to support a portfolio of capital construction projects in a hybrid capacity based in Pomona, CA. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, data fluency, and hands‑on experience in cost controls for large‑scale utility or infrastructure programs. This role works closely with Project Managers to drive accurate forecasting, budget management, and risk reporting across an active project portfolio. Key Responsibilities Download and consolidate financial data from multiple platforms (SAP, SharePoint, Excel) to prepare forecast reports across 1,200+ project records. Prepare, review, and update project budgets, baselines, short- and long-term forecasts, and expenditure plans for electrical substation construction projects. Develop routine cost monitoring reports to support project management and leadership decision-making. Meet regularly with Project Managers to review project scope, timelines, and forecast costs — including budgets, actuals, and commitments. Assist Project Managers in reviewing and reporting cost over/underruns against approved budgets and forecasts. Conduct cost and risk assessments, and provide variance explanations for changes in project scope, materials, and schedule. Update the change management tool based on impact analysis findings. Prepare and present a monthly financial summary for a portfolio of 50+ projects to project management leadership. Provide risk analysis reports across various construction programs. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Business, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 5+ years of experience in cost controls and capital projects/construction. 4+ years of experience in the utilities industry (electric, gas, or water). Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including intermediate-level MS Excel. Working knowledge of Python programming and basic familiarity with MS Access. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Preferred Qualifications Intermediate Python programming experience applied to risk analysis reporting, cluster analysis, and predictive analytics. Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Access.
