Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: 2 Years of Experience Required License: Compact License Required Certifications: BLS FHM NRP AWHONN Intermediate ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: Epic Experience Required Travel Experience Required Description: The position requires 2 years of relevant nursing experience in Labor and Delivery. Epic experience is necessary for this role. Candidates must hold a valid compact nursing license. The role entails caring for patients in labor and preterm labor. There are 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms available for use. Responsibilities include circulating for OB-GYN surgeries and attending all deliveries. Nurses will assist with low-risk antepartum care and transition nursery duties. Special procedures include administering blood and blood products, cardioversion, and using epidural pumps. Nurses will monitor and administer medications such as insulin, magnesium sulfate, and anticoagulants. Patient ratios are typically 1:1 to 1:3. The role may require floating to postpartum and NICU based on skill set. Nurses are expected to engage in high-risk deliveries and manage recovery for C-section patients. Additional skills required include pain assessment and management, sterile vaginal exams, and triaging obstetrical patients. Nurses should also be proficient in the use of intrauterine pressure catheters and PCA pumps. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team is essential in this role. Candidates should be capable of performing Wound Vac care and maintaining central lines. This position demands strong critical thinking and assessment skills in a fast-paced environment.
