Principal Software Engineer

Join a mission-driven federal IT program modernizing critical government systems at scale. You will serve as a hands‑on technical lead, architecting and delivering full-stack enterprise applications using modern Java and cloud-native technologies, while mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement across the delivery pipeline. What You'll Do Design and develop full-stack enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular/React following Twelve-Factor App methodology. Architect and deploy cloud-native microservices on AWS and OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines via Jenkins, Git, and Bitbucket. Build and maintain event-driven data pipelines using Kafka producers, consumers, and Kafka Streams. Develop RESTful and SOAP-based web services with strong security practices (OAuth2/JWT, WS-Security). Lead BDD and TDD efforts using Cucumber, JUnit, and Mockito; enforce code quality via SonarQube. Serve as technical lead for cross-functional Agile teams, guiding junior and mid-level developers. Document solution architecture using Confluence, Visio, and UML-based design artifacts. Required 10+ years of hands‑on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and/or React. Strong proficiency in microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native development on AWS. Experience with OpenShift, Docker, and containerization in production environments. Proficiency in Kafka-based event-driven architecture and asynchronous data processing. Solid DevOps experience: Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket, Maven, SonarQube, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with IBM DB2 and PostgreSQL; JPA/Spring Data ORM. Demonstrated experience as a hands‑on Technical Lead on Agile programs. Public Trust Clearance required (or ability to obtain). Preferred Prior federal or state government IT program experience. Experience with Section 508 accessibility compliance for web applications. Familiarity with AI/ML integration opportunities within existing architectures. Exposure to low-code platforms such as ServiceNow or MS Power Platform. Experience authoring technical white papers or systems design documents. #J-18808-Ljbffr ETHOS - Talent & Advisory
