Phlebotomist

Phlebotomist is responsible for collection and transportation of patient specimens and performing clerical functions related to the support of the laboratory.

Job duties include:

• Assisting in maintaining inventory of supplies, including expiration date checks.
• Accountable for intra-communication, updates and information from top down.
• Actively participating in survey readiness.
• Communicating with lab leadership on concerns affecting lab operations, quality and errors.
• Monitoring pending workload and communicating effectively as needed.
• Communicating and handling problems with customers in a timely manner.
• Performing phlebotomy on all patient populations following good practices and standards.
• Assisting with specimen processing.
• Attending staff meetings in person or virtually.
• Ordering and/or registering specimens in the LIS.
• Pull pending ensuring work is completed in a timely manner.
• Performing positive patient identification of patients.

Qualifications:

Graduate of a phlebotomy training program. Required licenses/certifications/courses: CPT (ASCP) preferred. BLS certification.
