EEG Specialist - Per Diem

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, an EEG Specialist is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Duties Perform a wide range of electroencephalograms including routine, portable and continuous EEG. Perform long‑term video EEG monitoring, including setup of patients, review and editing of EEG data, and related duties. Perform other electro‑neurodiagnostic examinations. Maintain and inventory laboratory equipment and supplies. Help maintain laboratory and patient records, including departmental databases. Archive patient data to DVD or other media. Assist in the guidance of technologists’ continuing education, directing releasing and online training. Work with medical staff and technologists to acquire and improve EMG/NCV and/or EP skills. Understand all components of EEG recording for seizure‑surgery patients, including grid and depth electrode placement and montage design; assist in data analysis. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, 1 year or more performing EEGs; graduation from an EEG training program, completion of an acceptable EEG module, or a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as an EEG Technician, including pediatric and neonatal experience. Preferred Qualifications Academic and/or clinical experience in EEG as well as EMG/NCV and/or Evoked Potentials; experience with epilepsy‑monitoring equipment and unit; registration of the American Board of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET); R.EEG T credential. Benefits and Compensation Starting salary range: $34/hr – $41/hr. Additional benefits include generous leave, health plans, and state pension.
