Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist 19 days ago Big Bear Lake, CA A two-week Per Diem opportunity is available in August 2026 for a clinical pharmacist to provide essential coverage at an inpatient hospital in a scenic Southern California town. This role focuses on inpatient pharmacy practice, requiring experience in medication verification, sterile compounding, and clinical collaboration in a hospital setting. The position demands reliability for scheduled daytime shifts with on-call availability during weekends and after hours. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM 5:00 PM (Full-time hours) On-call weekends and after hours (calls infrequent) Responsibilities: Verify and review medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety Compound sterile medications including IV admixtures and unit doses (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs involved) Respond promptly to emergency room codes as needed Maintain compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and sterile compounding standards Monitor and review patients medication therapies, offering clinical recommendations to healthcare providers Manage medication dispensing and refill Pyxis machines at two family health centers in town Desired Experience and Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience Compounding experience, specifically sterile preparations Familiarity with pharmacy software systems such as CSPI, Evident, or Pyxis (training available if needed) Experience working independently as the sole pharmacist on duty preferred Willingness and ability to fulfill on-call responsibilities Additional Information: Travel assistance including housing and mileage reimbursement provided This is a compelling short-term assignment in a beautiful location, offering a chance to utilize your clinical and compounding expertise in a close-knit hospital setting.
