1.00 Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Rabies vaccination is required for this position. Position Summary The successful candidate will assist two veterinarians with clinical service, teaching, and research activities involving farm animals and horses at both the haul-in facility and on-farm locations in Tifton. Responsibilities include preparation and organization of clinical and reproductive materials and equipment, inventory and supply management, animal handling and restraint, assistance during medical, surgical, and reproductive procedures, laboratory and sample preparation, facility and equipment maintenance, feeding and care of hospitalized animals, support for student organization and teaching activities, coordination of field service and laboratory exercises, and data entry into veterinary and research software systems. - Knowledge of basic farm animal and horse handling, restraint, and animal husbandry practices.
- Ability to safely work around large animals in both haul-in and on-farm environments.
- Familiarity with cleaning, disinfecting, and aseptic techniques associated with veterinary medical and surgical procedures.
- Ability to assist with clinical, surgical, and reproductive veterinary procedures.
- Ability to organize supplies, maintain inventory, and prepare materials and equipment for clinical, teaching, and research activities.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email communication, and data entry into veterinary software systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, veterinarians, faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
