Staff UX Researcher

Overview Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. We are looking for a Staff Product Researcher who proactively and independently develops, executes research solutions for complex, ambiguous, and often cross‑functional problem spaces to deliver strategic impact. Salary Range: $165,000 – $215,000, plus equity, annual performance bonus, and competitive benefits. Responsibilities Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and other researchers and data scientists to guide product development and refinement. Proactively and independently develop and execute research solutions that deliver strategic impact across complex, ambiguous, and often cross‑functional problem spaces. Conduct remote, on‑site, and in‑field user research studies with Etsy buyers and sellers. Share tangible findings and prioritized recommendations on a regular basis to encourage marketplace health and drive Etsy’s business goals. Partner with other insights teams (Market Research, Quantitative Research, Data Science, etc.) to triangulate insights and synthesize findings and recommendations. Qualifications & Experience In‑depth understanding of a range of research approaches, balancing speed and precision, and deep knowledge of modern trends in web and app design. High comfort level building relationships across the business and co‑creating strategies that consider customer and business implications. Experience leading research throughout the product development process, from discovery to delivery. Engaging storyteller and clear communicator, able to hold your own in a meeting and persuade others to take action through a customer‑centric lens. Craft leader within the research team, advancing tools, methods, and abilities, and mentoring junior team members. Ambitious, meticulous, and able to balance multiple projects at a time. Passionate about learning and problem‑solving with innovative approaches. Familiarity with payments, checkout, and digital wallet is a plus. Location & Work Arrangements This is a full‑time position reporting to the Senior UX Research Manager, Android and iOS Initiatives. We consider candidates based in the United States; candidates within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first considered. For commutable distance candidates, in‑office attendance is required once or twice per week depending on proximity.
