Engineering Manager - Machine Learning for Content Personalization

Job Summary Netflix seeks a Manager to lead the Content Personalization Algorithms Engineering team. The role involves building and scaling next‑generation recommendation algorithms that cover a wider range of content—including movies, series, games, and live‑streaming events—and ensuring rapid response to trending events through techniques such as bootstrapping or transfer learning. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of machine learning engineers and researchers to develop and deploy recommendation algorithms. Architect end‑to‑end solutions, from concept through production A/B tests. Drive vision, strategy, and innovation projects aligned with Netflix’s personalization mission. Collaborate cross‑functionally with personalization, serving, product management, ML platforms, data engineering, data science, and content teams. Foster an inclusive team culture, mentor colleagues, and champion new ideas. Qualifications 10+ years total experience, including 5+ years leading machine learning teams focused on personalization, search, or recommender systems. Track record of successful real‑world machine learning applications. Strong mathematical foundation and deep understanding of machine learning concepts such as deep learning, ranking, LLMs, bandits, or reinforcement learning. Proficient in software engineering and large‑scale distributed systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary range: $190,000 – $920,000. Flexible allocation between salary and stock options. 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
