Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist

Job Type and Shift Full-time / On-site. 1st Shift. Role Overview As a Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist, you will perform essential functions related to health, safety, environmental and security programs and issues. You will interact with internal and external stakeholders to provide support for regulatory compliance, develop practical solutions for occupational health and safety, environmental regulations, industrial hygiene, training, fire protection, emergency management, security and recordkeeping, and implement and develop new programs for compliance and continual improvement of HSES performance. In This Role, You Will Provide leadership, counsel, and technical assistance to the site to achieve HSES goals. Prepare updates to site safety policies and programs. Manage the site’s hazardous waste program. Develop and conduct safety training as needed. Maintain recordkeeping as required by regulations and company policy. Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits and inspections. Perform duties related to site RC14001 Responsible Care Management System (RCMS). Assist with corrective actions from internal/external audits, inspections and visits. Lead or participate in safety incident investigations and root cause analyses. Work with site personnel to improve process safety elements (e.g., management of change). Conduct or assist with hazard assessment activities (e.g., issuing permits, process safety reviews). Manage site environmental programs (e.g., RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP). Prepare regulatory permits and reports. Support site industrial hygiene programs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an HSES related field, science, or engineering. Five or more years of experience in an HSES related role may be considered in lieu of a degree. One or more years of health, safety and/or environmental experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in a chemical plant or heavy industry plant preferred.
