CL23235: Licensed Athletic Trainer - Southridge Starting Date: Immediately Salary: $24.11 - $30.26 per hour Hours: 6.0 hr/day; Fall, Winter and Spring Seasons – August thru May Location: Southridge High School Position Type: Part‑time, off-schedule, non‑bargaining The Licensed Athletic Trainer is responsible for collaborating with physicians and other health‑care professionals to provide preventive services, emergency care, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The incumbent assists the Athletics Program, coaches and athletes, and school faculty in further developing and enhancing the student athletic program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Be on campus from 2‑6 pm, Monday‑Friday to monitor practices. Provide coverage for all events during Fall, Winter and Spring sports seasons: Fall: Football, Girls Soccer, Volleyball Winter: Basketball, Wrestling, Gymnastics (if applicable) Spring: Soccer, Track & Field, Baseball, Softball Collaborate with physicians and other health‑care professionals to provide preventive, emergency, clinical, therapeutic, and rehabilitation services. Monitor athletic injuries and develop injury‑prevention training and programs. Assist athletes and parents with referrals to orthopedic physicians, physical therapists, etc. Provide training and opportunities for students in the Sports Medicine class. Coordinate ongoing efforts to increase the quality of the athletic training room, including ordering supplies, organizing inventory. Assist the Athletics Program and school faculty in further developing the athletic program. Provide strength and conditioning suggestions to coaching staff. Carry out objectives of the sports program as outlined by the athletic director. Assist coaches with administrative, program coordination, and development duties. Instruct participants in individual, group, and team techniques, tactics, and training necessary for success. Implement coaching philosophies consistent with the Kennewick School District and WIAA mission statements. Conditions of Employment National Athletic Trainer’s Association membership in good standing. Washington State Department of Health licensure. Certified in First Aid/CPR from American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Preferred certification in First Aid/CPR instruction. High school graduate. Must present transcripts within 30 days of employment. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Must meet physical demands of the position. Must pass a basic skills test. Must pass a background check, including employee paid fingerprinting. Complete Safe School Web‑Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter. Required Qualifications National Athletic Trainer’s Association membership in good standing. Washington State Department of Health licensure. Evidence of licensed athletic trainer and compliance with WIAA and district rules. Certified in First Aid/CPR from American Red Cross or American Heart Association (preferred instruction certification). Excellent attendance, punctuality, dependability; self‑disciplined and self‑starter. Positive recommendations and evaluations. Maintain coaching standards as determined by district and WIAA. High school diploma or GED. Basic computer proficiency for record maintenance, timecard entry, email. Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, facilities. Attend required in‑service trainings and other meetings. Ability to assess and correct safety issues. Ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative, effective relationship with students, parents, staff, employees, and management. Professional approach, teamwork, pride in service, continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications Short‑ and long‑term organizational and management skills. Three current recommendations. Positive role model. Clear philosophy for coaching level applied for. Coaching experience in applicable sport. Effective public relations. Cooperation and communication with students, parents, coaches, administrators, and community members. Physical Demands and Work Environment Mobility: stand, walk, push/pull 18–26 lbs, sit, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, use hands. Sense: talk/hear; communicate effectively; taste, smell; vision: close, far, color, peripheral, depth, focus. Lifting: move up to 18–26 lbs; lift overhead; quick movement in emergencies. Work environment: outdoor temperatures ‑10 to 100 °F; wet/humid conditions; moderate noise.
