Biomedical Equipment TechnicianMount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Medical Equipment Service Technician to join our team. The Medical Equipment Service Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and calibration of various medical equipment throughout the hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and the ability to follow manufacturer and company procedures while maintaining our high standards for equipment performance, safety, and quality of service. Technicians are expected to use their technical troubleshooting skills to effectively diagnose problems, repair, and calibrate medical equipment within operating specifications per the manufacturer's service manual.ResponsibilitiesMaintain, repair, and calibrate patient care medical devicesPerform quality assurance inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer recommendationsMaintain vendor-recommended preventive maintenance programsMaintain a cost-effective inventory, utilizing second sources of replacement materials required to service and maintain medical devices within the facilitiesMaintain appropriate service and calibration documentation in accordance with applicable laws and standardsAssist with training clinical personnel in user operation and equipment maintenanceRecommend the use of outside service personnel, as requiredProvide technical training to all other Medical Equipment Technicians (MET) concerning patient care medical devicesAttend pertinent service and training seminars as required to enhance skill level and decrease device operational costs post-warrantyAssist with equipment planning and pre-purchase evaluations of new equipmentAssist with acceptance inspections, relocation of existing equipment, and installation of new equipment when requiredAttend Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) Department and Medical Services Division staff meetingsProvide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenanceReview the outcome of preventive maintenance actions and recommend improvements to the department managerProvide mentoring to other biomedical equipment techniciansRecommend new equipment and testing proceduresProvide in-service educational programs on the use of equipmentPerform special projects as assignedPerform duties in accordance with Mount Laurel Animal Hospital's Core Values, safety protocols, company policies, and proceduresSkills & Qualifications• High school diploma or GED required • 4+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment required • AAMI certification preferred • Must be capable of troubleshooting biomedical devices and related equipment • Must possess knowledge about the proper use of diagnostic tools, test equipment, and software, where applicable • Experience working with medical hardware, software, and equipment products required • Must understand medical device usage within a healthcare environment • Ability to follow through on issues to a resolution • Ability to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, including management staff, consulting staff, clinicians, and clinical administrators • Familiarity with process improvement activities required • Knowledge of healthcare operations and the use of medical technology in a healthcare environment required • Must be able to function as part of a team while providing a high level of quality service • Understand and comply with applicable standards and regulations • Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and administrative team membersPhysical Requirements• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods as needed • Ability to safely handle, inspect, repair, and maintain medical equipment • Ability to work in a hospital environment with exposure to medical equipment, noise, odors, and other conditions associated with a veterinary hospital • Ability to safely use tools and equipment necessary to perform maintenance and repairsBenefits • Competitive compensation • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • 401(k) with employer matching • Continuing education (CE) allowance • Generous PTO policy • Career advancement pathways and mentorship opportunities • Supportive and inclusive work culture • Access to state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technologiesAdditional Perks • On-site events and staff appreciation activities throughout the year • Fully equipped staff kitchens with complimentary snacks and beverages • Relaxed break areas to recharge during your shift • On-site CE opportunities and educational workshops • Employee pet care discountsExpectations of Conduct:All of our staff is expected to demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and accountability in all aspects of the role.
