HR & Payroll Clerk

Northern Sales Company, a trusted leader in the Anchorage, AK community for over 60 years, is seeking a dedicated HR & Payroll Tech to join our team. Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job openings, forwarding resumes/applications to hiring managers, and scheduling interviews.
• Conduct new hire orientations and manage onboarding paperwork to ensure a seamless start for new employees.
• Set up and maintain accurate electronic employee files and records.
• Support off-boarding processes, including processing termination paperwork.
• Assist with the submission and approval of bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Review timecards for errors and assist with corrections as needed.
• Process final paychecks in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support HR and payroll operations.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in HR and/or payroll functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with multi-state HR and payroll processing, or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to provide prompt feedback.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Trustworthy, honest, and positive attitude.
• Experience and/or education in accounting strongly preferred.
• Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Compensation

$22.00 – $24.00 per hour , depending on experience.
