Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, public administration, criminal justice, or a related field Experience coordinating programs, operations, or cross-functional initiatives Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations with sound judgment and discretion Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments Ability to work evenings and weekends as required, including on-call responsibilities during high-visibility events or urgent situations Knowledge of freedom of expression/speech laws and policies, particularly as applicable to public college campuses Strong facilitation, documentation, and report-writing skills Sound judgment under pressure with a focus on de-escalation and operational consistency Experience supporting expressive activity, demonstrations, or large-scale event response Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, criminal justice, or related field Experience conducting student conduct investigations and/or adjudication Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including law enforcement and compliance units Job Description Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Dean of Students, the Campus Expression & Community Standards Coordinator provides primary operational coordination for the university’s expressive activity monitoring and response program, including both administrative operations and real-time campus response. The position coordinates expressive activity readiness and response protocols; event monitoring and documentation; deployment and coordination of campus responders; communication with campus partners; tracking and maintaining records; and post-event follow-up. The position works closely with the Dean of Students Office, University Police Department (UPD), Environmental, Health, Safety, Risk and Emergency Management (EHSREM), and other university partners to support consistent, coordinated, and compliant responses that protect free expression while promoting campus safety and adherence to university policy. The Campus Expression & Community Standards Coordinator also supports large-event student behavior monitoring and response, divisional compliance tracking and reporting, and Student Conduct and Community Standards. This position serves as an investigator for complex student conduct cases and provides additional investigative support as needed. Across these responsibilities, the position supports effective coordination, accurate documentation and reporting, student accountability, and institutional compliance. Job Duties Expressive Activity Program Coordination, Monitoring, and Response Coordinate the administrative and real-time operations of the university’s Expressive Activity Monitoring and Response Program, ensuring consistent implementation of university policies, procedures, and response protocols. Coordinate the Expressive Activity Response Team (EART), including responder recruitment and training, on-call schedules, activation and notification protocols, deployment, documentation, and after-action processes. Monitor and track expressive activities across university locations and maintain accurate records of planned and unplanned activities, university response, emerging concerns, and outcomes. Coordinate readiness planning for demonstrations, speakers, counter-demonstrations, protests, and other high-visibility expressive activities, including staffing, communication, documentation, de-escalation, and escalation protocols. Serve as a primary on-site coordinator for expressive activities, facilitating communication and coordinated response among university responders and campus partners. Provide real-time guidance regarding university expressive activity policies, freedom of expression, time, place, and manner requirements, and established campus procedures. Coordinate with UPD, EHSREM, Student Involvement and Engagement, and other campus partners to assess operational and safety considerations and determine appropriate university response. Proactively engage student organizations, advisors, event organizers, and campus partners to support awareness of and compliance with expressive activity requirements. Develop and deliver training, guidance, and resources for university personnel responsible for monitoring or responding to expressive activities. Conduct post-event reviews and prepare event summaries, after-action reports, trend analyses, and recommendations to strengthen institutional preparedness and response. Analyze expressive activity data and emerging trends to identify operational needs, potential risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Large-Event Student Behavior Monitoring and Response Coordinate student behavior monitoring and response for athletic events, commencements, major campus programs, and other high-attendance or high-visibility university events. Assist with developing event-specific staffing, communication, documentation, escalation, and response protocols in collaboration with appropriate campus partners. Serve in an on-site coordination role during designated events, supporting de-escalation, community standards, policy compliance, and appropriate referral of incidents. Document significant student behavior incidents and coordinate referrals to Student Conduct and Community Standards or other appropriate university offices for follow‑up. Identify recurring student behavior trends and recommend education, prevention, or operational strategies to reduce future concerns. Student Conduct Investigations and Case Support Serve as an investigator for complex Student Conduct and Community Standards cases and provide additional investigative capacity when needed. Conduct neutral, thorough, and timely investigations into alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct and other applicable university policies. Gather and analyze information, conduct interviews, review relevant records and evidence, and prepare investigative reports, findings, and case materials consistent with established procedures. Maintain appropriate investigative records and coordinate with Student Conduct and Community Standards leadership throughout the investigative process. Divisional Compliance and Risk Management Support Support the Division of Student Success compliance reporting program, including tracking reporting requirements and deadlines and coordinating the collection, verification, organization, and submission of required information. Assist divisional units in maintaining documentation and records necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable university, system, state, and federal requirements. Serve on the Division of Student Success Risk Management Committee. Assist with identifying and assessing operational, safety, compliance, and reputational risks affecting divisional programs and activities. Translate applicable policies and requirements into operational guidance, workflows, tools, and training to support consistent implementation. Assist with compliance, risk, and trend reports for divisional leadership and monitor completion of identified corrective or mitigation actions. Emergency Preparedness and Response Support Division of Student Success responsibilities related to campus emergency preparedness and response, particularly when incidents involve students, expressive activity, or large campus events. Participate in coordinated university response efforts and assist with implementing established communication, documentation, escalation, and after‑hours response protocols. Collaborate with UPD, EHSREM, the Dean of Students Office, and other campus partners during emergencies and significant incidents affecting students or the campus community. Participate in emergency preparedness exercises, after‑action reviews, and improvement planning relevant to the position’s responsibilities. This position is designated as essential personnel and may require availability to work evenings, weekends, and during emergency or critical operations as needed. General Administrative and Professional Responsibilities Maintain high standards of confidentiality, professionalism, neutrality, accuracy, and documentation across all assigned responsibilities. Maintain current knowledge of university policies and applicable requirements related to expressive activity, student conduct, institutional compliance, and emergency response. Serve on committees, task forces, and divisional initiatives related to assigned responsibilities. Support assessment and continuous improvement of processes related to expressive activity, large‑event response, student conduct, compliance, and risk management. Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Division of Student Success and Dean of Students Office. Other Duties Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Dean of Students to support the broader goals of the Division of Student Success and contribute to the continued success of the university.
