DEPT OF EMERGENCY AND MILITARY AFFAIRS SYSTEMS/LAN ADMINISTRATOR Job Location: Papago Park Military Reservation (PPMR), Phoenix, AZ Salary: Up to $34.6632 per hour (DOE) Grade: 23 Closing Date: July 21, 2026 Job Summary The Systems/LAN Administrator processes, documents, and coordinates resolution of trouble calls with the help desk. This position administers server infrastructure, implements software patches, security fixes, and tests and validates modified system configurations. Ensures compliance with standards for systems software and documentation. Additionally, this position monitors system reliability and availability. Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement of workplace culture through teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics. Job Duties Responsibilities include: Conduct daily analysis of all servers, identify and characterize incidents, generate incident reports, and investigate suspicious activity on all servers. Responsible for backup and validation of backups on all servers. Troubleshoot and isolate server issues (hardware and software), and coordinate resolution with required parties (server hardware and software manufacturers). Monitor, support, and maintain server-hosted services and applications within the environment, including standard infrastructure services, cybersecurity applications, and end user applications. Perform server builds, including physical installation and configuration, network-based imaging, and template deployment. Manage the lifecycle of servers from initial build to decommissioning. Provide advanced level troubleshooting to identify the specific functional problem of issues escalated from Service Desk Analysts and customers. Provide answers to complex technical questions not resolved by other analysts. Document, update, and communicate internal process changes to the team as required. Provide updates or steps for problem resolution to other Service Desk Analysts. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of: A variety of operating systems (e.g., Windows OS) on desktop and server Infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications used in the enterprise Customer service and support principles to deliver a wide range of services System software, hardware and networking and how they interconnect Computer and server equipment and assigned system software Customer automation needs to participate in planning and delivery of IT services Skilled in: Intermediate troubleshooting skills Developing and writing technical documentation Installing and repairing PC hardware and software Performing basic maintenance and repair of servers Building strong relationships inside and outside the organization Prioritizing and planning work activities, setting goals and objectives, and using time efficiently Communicating activities and results as appropriate Ability to: Strong customer service skills Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly Work within established methods; obtain, clarify, and provide information within parameters Regularly participate in reviews of assigned and completed tasks Selective Preference(s) Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities described. The preferred candidate will have certifications with Vmware, Microsoft Windows Server/Azure. Pre-Employment Requirements Special Job Requirements: This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid Arizona state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training. Individual is required to pass a criminal background investigation. Must be a US citizen. Candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation and possess the ability to obtain a favorable Tier 3 investigation for Secret clearance eligibility and CAC. Must currently possess an active IAT II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) or obtain one within 6 months of hiring. Out of state travel may be required.
