Job Summary We are looking for individuals to join our client's team as Dental Assistant. Under the direct supervision of a dentist, assists in examination/treatment. Assists during restorative and surgical procedures by setting up appropriate materials and instruments and helps to maintain adequate access to the treatment area. The assistant also takes all intraoral and panoramic X-rays, supplies support functions for the dental service, and performs other health-related duties associated with patient care.

Job Description
- Prepares patient and treatment area for the dentist during dental treatment session; (a) appropriately identifies patients and seats them in the treatment room, (b) drapes patients appropriately, (c) arranges instruments and supplies for use during the procedure.
- Performs specific procedures "chair side" during examination and treatment; (a) retracts lips and cheeks to establish access, (b) operates suction equipment to maintain the mouth free of blood and saliva, (c) passes instruments and supplies to the dentist while performing various surgical and restorative procedures.
- Takes intraoral and extraoral radiographs as prescribed by the dentist and scans and mounts the intraoral imagines.
- Clean loose debris from used instruments, places instruments in appropriate transportation container, sprays used instruments with approved pre-cleansing agent and transport them to the soiled utility room.
- Assists the dentist in the documentation of examination findings, treatment rendered and makes future appointments.
- Ensure that dental services area is clean and well organized to ensure efficient and hygienic provision of services.
- Maintains a safe practice environment.
- Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.
- Adheres to rules pertaining to the confidentiality of patient information and patient rights.
- One year of experience required
- Full-hand dental assisting experience with the ability to anticipate the dentist's next steps during procedures.
- Dental Clinical Skills: Chairside assisting, dental digital imaging, CBCT/panoramic radiography, instrument sterilization, and vital signs monitoring.
- Software Proficiency: Epic/Wisdom Dental Software, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Proprio One Language Services.
- Administrative & Equipment Operation: Electronic medical/dental records management and operation of scanners, copiers, fax machines, and other dental equipment.
- Prior work experience of about six months on-the-job training
- X-Ray Technique
- Knowledge of EPIC/CADENCE/Wisdom Dental
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS Disease
- Experience working with HIV/AIDS Clients
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good analytical skills
- A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by successful completion of an accredited or approved Dental Assistant Program, which included or was supplemented by 600 hours of supervised internship experience assisting a dentist at chairside; or
- A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by successful completion of an accredited or approved Dental Assistant Program, which included or was supplemented by 300 hours of supervised internship experience assisting a dentist at chairside; and six (6) months of satisfactory full-time experience as a Dental Assistant performing all of the following duties: taking and uploading dental digital imaging, assisting dentist at chairside, and preparing dental instruments for sterilization; or
- A four-year igh School diploma or its educational equivalent; and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time experience as a Dental Assistant performing the duties described in "2" above; or
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. Each 100 hours of supervised internship experience assisting a dentist at chairside is equivalent to two (2) months of full-time experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent.
- BLS (AHA)
- DANB Certified (Preferred)
- Certificate of completion in Dental Assisting from an Accredited Dental Assisting Program (Preferred)
- Shift Time: 8:30 AM-4:30 PM; 7 hours per day, and 5 days a week (M-F
- $29 - $34 per hour, based on experience, skills, and market factors
