Job Purpose and Summary As a District Support Pharmacist (DSP) you help transform healthcare for our customers and bring the promise of CVS Health to life in retail locations. You serve as a role model who demonstrates genuine care, sets high standards for the pharmacy team and covers pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled, overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap. Support accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the team to follow workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Enhance patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team to do the same, and resolving insurance or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, emphasizing best practices and protection of cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required training and continuing medical education; seek opportunities to expand knowledge. Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible. Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, ensuring patient safety, privacy, and a secure workplace. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist license in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and focus Concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer service and team orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and respond appropriately to patients’ reactions. Communication skills Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening, give full attention, ask questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions. Mathematical reasoning Use math to solve problems such as determining tablet totals, day’s supply, or bottle quantities. Problem resolution Identify challenging interactions and select the best course of action among multiple options. Physical demands Be mobile, remain upright for extended periods, lift and handle items up to 20 lb, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger tasks. Work with precision on machines, maintain visual acuity for small details and observe situations that require swift communication. Perform any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting.
