SATCOM Systems Administrator

Overview Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a SATCOM Systems Administrator, Journeyman. The System Administrator performs daily systems analysis, customer and contractor training, systems administration, and hardware maintenance. The System Administrator also performs daily analysis of systems and database management and configuration of Operating Systems, Software Applications, Active Directory (AD) domain, and databases specific to Wideband Satellite Communications (WSOTS). Performs analysis of Risk Management Framework (RMF) Information Assurance (IA) security requirements of complex DoD computer systems. This is a full‑time position located in Wahaiwa, HI. The System Administrator staff will be required to provide coverage for 24/7/365 support, following a 12‑hour shift schedule. The expected split will be 30% day shift and 70% shift work. Responsibilities Perform performance analysis on Operating Systems including Windows 2012/16 Server and Windows 7/10. Provide administration support to site SIPR and NIPR network communication systems. Perform daily review of audit, security, and application logs, identify problem areas or trends, take the proper action, and generate required reports. Perform hardware maintenance and document deficiencies affecting performance or effectiveness: Dell Servers, RAID disk configurations, PCs, and CISCO networking hardware, WANs and LANs. Experience with account management, PKI certificate management, LDAP configuration/management. Qualifications Minimum Experience: Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen. Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret level clearance. Certification: CompTIA Security+ within 90 days of hire. Education: High School Diploma. Years of Experience: 5+ years of SATCOM experience within DoD/Military domains. Additional Experience: Experience maintaining access to SIPR/NIPR networks. Experience in managing computer networks with skills particular to the administration of a Windows and AD domain environment. Demonstrated ability to work and grow in a dynamic, fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Demonstrated self‑starter; efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent tasks. Experience using IT tools for managing and troubleshooting complex computer networks. Preferred Qualifications: Education: Associate’s Degree or higher. Experience conducting performance analysis on application software such as Common Network Planning System (CNPS) and Solar Winds, and network protocols: TCP/IP, FTP, and SNMP. Experience maintaining firewall rule sets and related parameters, intrusion detection software (IDS), reviewing audit logs, and taking required corrective action when an intrusion is detected. Versed in following reconfiguration, analyzing satellite and network performance to confirm effectiveness and identify anomalies. Experience with Cisco products and virtualization tools and implementation. Security administration experience supporting RMF requirements. Working knowledge of RMF and cybersecurity requirements. Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers. Experience with continuous integration, build management, and/or automated test frameworks. Hardware/software requirement verification/system validation experience. Scripting experience (Bash/Shell, Python, Perl). Additional Information Location: Onsite. Travel: Up to 10% may be required.
