Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with an established organization located within commuting distance of both the Oneonta and Binghamton markets. This organization has a newly created Senior Accountant hiring need because of growth. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who enjoys owning core financial processes and contributing to accurate, timely reporting. The position works closely with accounting and operational leaders to support daily accounting activities, strengthen financial visibility, and improve overall process effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

• Lead key tasks within the monthly and annual close cycle to help ensure complete and timely financial reporting.

• Record and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to maintain reliable accounting records.

• Oversee general ledger accuracy by analyzing balances, resolving variances, and keeping documentation organized.

• Coordinate billing-related activities and confirm transactions are processed correctly and within required timeframes.

• Track receivables and open balances, assisting with reporting and follow-up on outstanding items.

• Evaluate revenue and expense activity, investigate irregularities, and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders.

• Produce recurring internal financial reports and deliver analysis that supports business and operational decision-making.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to address accounting questions, reinforce internal controls, and support audit and year-end reporting needs.

• Demonstrated experience in a senior-level accounting role with direct involvement in financial close activities.

• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.

• Experience preparing bank reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules with a high degree of accuracy.

• Ability to analyze financial activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Familiarity with billing processes, accounts receivable tracking, and related financial reporting.
