Roberts Sewing Center is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused Part-Time Sewing & Quilting Sales Associate to join our growing team. If you have a passion for sewing, quilting, embroidery, garment making, crafting, or textile arts and enjoy helping others succeed in their creative projects, we'd love to meet you.

This position is ideal for experienced sewists, quilters, seamstresses, dressmakers, embroidery enthusiasts, makers, and crafters who enjoy sharing their knowledge while providing exceptional customer service.

As a key member of our team, you will help customers select sewing machines, embroidery equipment, quilting supplies, fabric, software, patterns, notions, and accessories while creating an inspiring shopping experience that builds long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Retail Sales

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers, assessing their project needs, and recommending products and solutions.
• Build customer relationships through expert guidance and personalized recommendations.
• Demonstrate, explain, and sell sewing machines, embroidery machines, quilting equipment, software, furniture, and accessories.
• Assist customers in selecting fabrics, patterns, notions, books, stabilizers, thread, and project materials.
• Accurately process customer transactions using the point-of-sale system.

Sewing Education & Demonstrations

• Teach introductory and advanced machine lessons, including computerized sewing, embroidery, quilting, and software applications.
• Conduct product demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences.
• Promote educational events, workshops, and sewing classes that support customer success and community engagement.

Merchandising & Store Operations

• Assist with product displays, promotions, seasonal merchandising, and visual presentations.
• Price, stock, organize, and replenish merchandise throughout the store.
• Support inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and maintaining fabric and supply inventory.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail environment.

Technical & Community Support

• Test-sew serviced machines to verify repair and maintenance work has been completed successfully.
• Represent Roberts Sewing Center at local quilt shows, sewing events, community demonstrations, and educational programs.
• Provide valuable customer feedback to management regarding products, promotions, and customer preferences.
• Contribute positively to team goals and support store operations as needed.

Qualifications:

Required

• Hands-on sewing experience with knowledge of sewing techniques, tools, and equipment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn product features and explain technical information clearly to customers.
• Basic computer, tablet, and point-of-sale system proficiency.
• Basic math skills for pricing, measurements, sales transactions, and inventory tasks.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.

Preferred

• Experience in retail sales, specialty retail, fabric stores, quilt shops, craft stores, or sewing machine sales.
• Quilting, embroidery, garment construction, home décor sewing, or crafting experience.
• Previous teaching, training, coaching, or demonstration experience.
• Proven success achieving sales goals and building customer relationships.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift merchandise.
• Frequently lift up to 25 pounds independently.
• Ability to participate in team lifts up to 75 pounds when needed.

Schedule Requirements

• Available to work a minimum of three days per week.
• Saturday availability required.
• Occasional participation in regional quilt shows and special events within approximately one hour of the store location.
