At Byron Manor Senior Living , a Cardinal Senior Living community, we’re looking for a Sous Chef who knows how to cook, lead, organize a kitchen, and make sure every plate leaving the line meets the standard.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll work alongside the Executive Chef, help lead daily kitchen operations, support menu creation and special events, develop the culinary team, and take command of the kitchen when the Executive Chef is away.

For our residents, meals are more than food. They’re routine, connection, comfort, and something to look forward to.

What You’ll Own

As Sous Chef, you’ll help keep the culinary operation moving every day.

You’ll:

• Support all aspects of daily kitchen operations
• Direct the kitchen when the Executive Chef is unavailable
• Ensure food meets expectations for quality, presentation, portioning, and temperature
• Assist with menu creation, planning, costing, and execution
• Support daily features, holidays, catered events, and special functions
• Assist with food orders, production schedules, records, and kitchen documentation
• Train and support culinary team members
• Maintain high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
• Identify operational problems and help develop solutions
• Work alongside the team to deliver a consistently strong resident dining experience

This is not a role where leadership means standing on the sidelines.

We want someone willing to get on the line, help the team execute, and lead by example.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with real kitchen experience who is ready for more responsibility.

Ideally, you bring:

• Professional culinary or high-volume food service experience
• Knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation, and food handling practices
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
• Strong organization and communication skills
• The ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality
• Leadership potential and the confidence to direct a kitchen
• A team-first mentality
• The physical ability to remain active throughout the shift and lift up to 50 pounds

Culinary education and previous supervisory experience are preferred. Healthcare or senior living culinary experience is a plus, but not required.
