Tech - MLT/Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Summary:
Performing routine and advanced laboratory procedures, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) operates various laboratory analyzers and equipment to provide accurate test results essential for patient diagnosis and treatment. The role involves maintaining quality standards, preparing samples, and troubleshooting equipment to ensure optimal laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and calibrate analyzers, spectrophotometers, and other lab equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain quality control by running standards, controls, and verifying equipment function through routine maintenance.
• Analyze blood samples, including blood cell counts, blood typing, and compatibility testing for transfusions.
• Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions, ensuring proper blood grouping and cross-matching procedures.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents to ensure availability of necessary materials.
• Document and report laboratory findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data accurately.

Qualifications:

• Valid ASCP certification is required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant MLT experience, specifically with recent blood bank procedures.
• Proven proficiency in blood bank techniques, including blood typing and compatibility testing.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment effectively.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
