Adjunct Professor of Psychology

The Department of Behavioral Sciences at Flagler College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach undergraduate courses related to Psychology and Psychological Sciences. Courses may include General and Developmental Psychology. All courses are taught at our campus in downtown St. Augustine, FL. The instructor’s primary responsibilities are to create an active learning environment that supports students in developing their understanding of the course material. Job Duties Teach assigned course(s) in Psychology, specifically ResearchMethods. Prepare a detailed syllabus for each course and distribute a copy of the syllabus to each student. The syllabus must conform to the requirements outlined in the Faculty Handbook and those that may be established by the Department Chair or Discipline Coordinator. Maintain weekly office hours and be available to meet with students. When classes are in session, part-time faculty are expected to be on campus at least one hour for each course taught to meet with students outside class. These meetings may take place immediately before or after class. Keep an accurate record of student attendance and report excessiveabsences to the Dean of Academic Life. Maintain an accurate record of grades and submit final grades ontime to the Registrar. Use varied teaching and assessment methods. Qualifications Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in teaching subject. Inexceptional cases, outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the teaching discipline may be presented in lieu of formal academic preparation. Such cases must be justified by the institution on an individual basis. Previous teaching experience preferred but not required. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment inmaking decisions concurrent with college policy.
