Lifeguard PositionHours: Up to 25 hours per weekQualifications:Valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding / CPR/ First Aid / AED.Successful completion of written and water test.Skill in oral and written communication skills.Experience working with children preferred.Familiar with computer program on-line Active Server (will train)Be prepared and proficient in all Emergency Action Plans (community and school use)Must be responsible, dependable and enjoy working with people of all ages.Must be available to perform opening/closing duties.18 years and older must obtain criminal background check as required by the State of Michigan.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Regular and reliable in person attendance is an essential job functionEnsure safety of all swimmers by taking precautionary measures and enforcing rules BEFORE an accident happensWear On-Guard uniform and carry provided equipment at all timesAbility to work with childrenPerform rescues and basic first aid when necessaryExcellent communication and organizational skillsHigh energyStrong work ethicLanguage Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Other Skills and Abilities: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
