First Assistant Registered Nurse (RNFA)

A First Assistant Registered Nurse (RNFA) is a specialized operating room professional who operates under the direct supervision of surgeons to provide essential support during surgical procedures. This role involves executing critical tasks such as suturing, managing exposure, and controlling bleeding while ensuring top-notch patient care.

Role Responsibilities

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, operating room technicians, and other medical personnel to ensure effective patient care in the operating room.
• Adhere to state nursing practice acts, regulatory standards, physician orders, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform advanced surgical tasks to assist in procedures, maintaining a focus on patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Oregon.
• Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards.
• Certification through either the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA).
• Registered on the Oregon RNFA Registry.
• Minimum of two years of RNFA experience, particularly in OB-GYN (including C-sections and robotic surgery) and general surgery (including robotics).

Call Requirement

Applicants will be expected to take OB call, adhering to a schedule of one week on and one week off.

Travel Requirements

Prior travel experience is essential for this position, as local candidates will not be considered.
