As a Laboratory Research Analyst I (LRA I) in the Abraham Lab, you’ll be a valued contributor to innovative immunology and vaccine research. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, interdisciplinary team committed to advancing scientific discovery while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where learning and growth are encouraged. You’ll play a key role in advancing vaccine-induced immunity studies while developing technical expertise and research independence. What You’ll Do: Handle and work with laboratory animals (mice), including performing immunizations via injection routes (intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, intraperitoneal) and mucosal routes (intranasal, sublingual, gastric). Collect and process biological samples (e.g., blood, mucosal samples, cells) to evaluate immune responses. Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including cleaning, organizing, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment functionality. Follow, support, and help enforce laboratory safety standards and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct basic cell biology, microscopy, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques, including cell isolation and culture. Organize, analyze, and document experimental data for reports, manuscripts, and grant applications. Apply standard protocols and theoretical knowledge to minimize error and improve experimental consistency. Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments, working independently with minimal supervision as experience grows. Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to review assignments, analyze results, and draw preliminary conclusions. Develop experimental plans and make minor adaptations to laboratory procedures or techniques as needed. Review scientific literature relevant to ongoing research and laboratory methodologies. Learn new laboratory techniques and assist with training new personnel. Perform additional research-related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator. Choose Duke. Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $51,448.00 to USD $77,945.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
