Management Trainee - Hinsdale/Westmont

Position Overview Electrical paint & decorating retailer JC Licht is looking for Store Managers at our Hinsdale and Westmont locations. Founded in 1907, JC Licht offers Benjamin Moore products across 65 stores in the Chicagoland area, Wisconsin, and Indiana. The Store Manager monitors operations and profitability while supporting the store and its team. Human Resources Responsibilities Recruit, select, and hire store team members. Ensure all employees have a working knowledge of products and develop training programs as needed. Promote excellent customer service and a team‑oriented work environment through good communication. Ensure sufficient staffing and supervise employees. Conduct performance reviews, document performance, and administer disciplinary action in accordance with company policy. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies, including ADA, EEOC, Workers Compensation, Wage & Hour, Sexual Harassment, and others. Store Operations Responsibilities Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet customer needs within budget. Control inventory losses through proper controls and notations. Control expenses. Ensure the store is opened and closed in accordance with company policy. Complete all paperwork reports accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain merchandising standards for window displays, sales floor displays, and promotional displays. Actively participate in store activities including unloading trucks, stocking shelves, and delivering merchandise to customers; lift required weights. Financial Management Responsibilities Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking procedures; resolve issues as needed. Use business reports to identify sales, gross margin, and expense control opportunities. Understand and follow company purchasing policies and procedures. Customer Focus Responsibilities Resolve customer issues efficiently. Assist all customers professionally and timely upon entry. Answer telephone calls promptly and appropriately. Provide knowledgeable assistance for all product lines and services. Maintain a clean store appearance and equipment in excellent working condition. Offer suggestive sales to help customers complete projects. Maintain a professional appearance, good attendance, and punctuality. Account Management Responsibilities Support development of new accounts and increase sales of current accounts through targeted sales initiatives. Ensure commercial accounts are properly set up and administered. Assist with outside sales calls when necessary. Adhere to all company policies and procedures outlined in the JC Licht Employee Handbook. Effective financial planning and management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Minimum of 2 years retail experience, preferably industry related; background in inside sales is a plus. Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform bending, lifting, and sitting tasks.
