Job Title: Electronics Technician
Location: 100% travel throughout the United States
Type: 6-month contract to hire
Compensation: $28 - $40/hr. Additional "Health & Wellness" rate: $5.09/hr (paid in addition to their hourly pay rate for the 1st 40 hours worked each week)
Work Model: Remote – offsite
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (approximately)
Security Clearance: Must meet customer security requirements

Overview
System One is seeking traveling Electronics Technicians to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of FAA electronic systems, including navigation aids, communications equipment, surveillance systems, and associated power and control infrastructure. The technician works from technical drawings, schematics, and FAA procedures to assist with field installations, cable routing and testing, equipment setup, system testing, and basic fault isolation using standard electronic test equipment. They are also responsible for documenting work activities, maintaining safety and quality standards, and collaborating with senior technicians, engineers, project managers, and FAA personnel to support project objectives.

• Start date: As soon as possible
• Travel costs will be reimbursed at the government rate based on the assigned duty location. This includes airfare, rental vehicle, personal vehicle mileage, gas, and lodging (hotel). There is a Per Diem for meals and incidental expenses.
• Lodging: Lodging expenses are reimbursed at cost for room plus taxes (at government rate). Lodging is covered on the days not working. A government rate hotel room is discounted lodging priced to match official federal, state, or military per diem allowances. It is strictly reserved for public sector employees and military personnel traveling on official government business, and a valid government or military ID (along with travel orders) is required at check-in.
• Meals & Incidentals: Per Diem will be automatically added to weekly paycheck (all 7 days of the week). Meals & Incidentals per diem is non-taxable.
• Vehicle: Mileage reimbursement available only if driving personally owned vehicle (Reimbursed at GSA rate of $.725 per mile). Gas reimbursement available with receipts. If the vehicle is a rental, there will be no mileage reimbursement. Rental vehicle expenses will be reimbursed.
• Only working time and travel time are compensable on this contract. Our client's intent is to have minimal downtime, but we do schedule opportunities for individuals to return home every six weeks on average for around a week. Overtime (10% - 20%) is expected during deployments but not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, relocation, and removal of electronic systems and equipment, which may include:

• o Navigation aids (NAVAIDS)
• o Communications systems (VHF/UHF, data/voice)
• o Surveillance and support systems
• o Associated power, grounding, and control equipment

Troubleshoot and repair systems to the unit, board, or module level as assigned:

• Use standard test equipment (digital multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Follow step-by-step troubleshooting guides, fault isolation procedures, and technical manuals
• Escalate complex or recurring issues to crew lead, FAA counterparts, and project management.

Read and work from:

• Schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnect drawings
• Equipment manuals, technical orders, and job plans
• FAA orders, work instructions, and site-specific procedures

Assist in field installations and site work under TSSC 5:

• Support pre-installation checks and site preparation
• Install racks, cabinets, and equipment per drawings and installation standards
• Route, terminate, label, and test cables (coax, fiber, copper) under guidance
• Assist with system power-up, basic alignment, and functional testing

Use and care for test and measurement equipment:

• Configure and operate standard electronic test instruments
• Perform basic measurements, alignments, and performance checks
• Maintain proper calibration and handle equipment in accordance with procedure

Document work activities in accordance with contract and FAA requirements:

• Complete maintenance logs, service tickets, and test forms
• Record parts used, corrective actions taken, and test results
• Provide redline/as-built information to senior technicians or engineers

Follow all safety, security, and quality practices:

• Comply with FAA and client safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site Risk Management Plans
• Adhere to physical and information security requirements at FAA facilities
• Follow configuration control and quality assurance procedures
• Collaborate effectively with senior technicians, engineers, project managers, and FAA representatives to support project objectives.

Requirements

• High school diploma is required.
• May require repetitive movement such as lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and standing.
• Basic Microsoft suite and Internet, and E-mail.
• Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by federal authorities will be performed.
• Must be able to travel up to 100% within the USA.
• Two plus years of working knowledge of:
• Basic analog and digital electronics
• Fundamentals of RF and communications equipment
• Use of standard electronic test equipment (DMMs, basic scopes, signal generators)
• Ability to:
• Read and interpret basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
• Follow written and verbal instructions and standard procedures
• Work safely in field, shop, and facility environment
