Banquet Sous Chef

Our mission is to care for people so they can be their best! Cheyenne Mountain Resort opened in 1985 and sits on 25 acres of land. The Full‑Service property is nestled in the lush greens of Southern Colorado Springs and oversees impressive mountain views, along with exciting activities like golf, swimming, and tennis. These allow for the unique experience that you can only get at this resort. Salary Range: $70,00 commensurate with experience. Position Overview The goal of the Sous Chef is to manage a specific department and work with the Executive Chef and/or Executive Sous Chef to create, implement and maintain quality standards. In some instances, the Sous Chef will be expected to be responsible for the entire operation in the absence of the Executive Sous Chef and/or Executive Chef. The ideal Sous Chef will accomplish their tasks by monitoring the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, ending in a positive guest experience. Communicate effectively with all colleagues, vendors, and clients. A keen sense of urgency is a must for this position, and you must be able to lead and teach with a hands‑on approach expected culinary standards. Our Sous Chef must perform skilled scratch‑made food production while supervising and coaching colleagues in the kitchen and front of the house. This work requires initiative, leadership, hands‑on self‑reliance, judgement, teaching, and ability to delegate tasks. Job Functions & Responsibilities Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic management responsibilities Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hotel departments Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring May manage other key culinary leadership rolls including lead or supervisor Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment Qualifications In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills Experience with training, basic financial management and customer service A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast‑paced customer service environment Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner Strong training and communication skills Culinary education and/or 4 years of progressive on‑the‑job training, hotel experience preferred Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results Geographic and schedule flexibility preferred Culinary education and/or on‑the‑job training, hotel experience preferred Our Values Empathy / Wellbeing / Respect / Integrity / Experimentation / Inclusion Full Time Benefits Health Savings Plan and Flexible Savings Plan with Medical Coverage Colleague Discounted Room Rates 12 Complimentary Room Nights (based on availability) Paid Time Off 2 Floating Holidays 8 Paid Holidays Referral Bonus Recognition & Rewards Basic Life Insurance Sick Days Friends & Family Room Rates 401(k) (Match: 1-3% = dollar/dollar, 4-5% = $.50/dollar after 1 year) Employee Stock Purchase Plan (5% discount) Complimentary Parking Complimentary Meal During Each Shift Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Hyatt Property Restaurant/Coffee Shop Discount All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
