Facilities Custodian

The Facilities Custodian works independently to maintain clean, safe, and well-organized assigned company facilities. This role includes daily cleaning, light maintenance tasks, and ensuring the facilities remain in top condition for employees and visitors. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety.

Primary Responsibilities

General Cleaning & Maintenance:

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal.
• Restock supplies, including paper towels, soap, and cleaning products.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain hygiene.
• Maintain floors, including spot-cleaning spills and using proper care techniques for different surfaces.
• Ensure windows, doors, and entryways remain clean and presentable.

Facility Upkeep & Safety Compliance:

• Perform minor, non-technical maintenance tasks within the employee’s training and capabilities, such as replacing light bulbs and minor repairs.
• Report maintenance issues or damages that require attention to management.
• Ensure all cleaning products are used and stored according to safety guidelines.
• Follow company protocols for handling hazardous cleaning materials.
• Maintain awareness of safety hazards and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents.

Support & Special Tasks:

• Assist with setting up and breaking down spaces for meetings or events.
• Respond to facility-related service requests from employees or management.
• Monitor supply inventory and notify management when restocking is needed.
• Assist with occasional seasonal tasks (e.g., clearing debris, minor landscaping).
• Painting/repainting parking spot designations as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work Environment:

• Primary setting: Office
• This position primarily works indoors but may require occasional outdoor tasks.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and other typical facility maintenance conditions.
• The environment may be fast paced at times, requiring the ability to multitask and adjust priorities.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
• Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and pressure washers.
• Comfortable working in various conditions, such as colder or warmer areas within the facility.

Work Schedule & Expectations:

• This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday during the day. While the role is typically weekday, daytime hours, there may be rare occasions when evening or weekend work is required.
• The Facilities Custodian is expected to:
  • Arrive on time and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with employees and visitors.
  • Communicate any issues or needs to management promptly.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Preferred: Previous custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience.
• Required: Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Required: Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Required: Ability to follow safety guidelines and proper use of cleaning products.
• Required: Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
