JOB DESCRIPTION:

The School Social Worker serves as a critical member of the schools multidisciplinary team, providing social-emotional, behavioral, and academic support to students. This position functions as both the Special Education Coordinator and PBIS Coordinator, ensuring compliance with IDEA and Section 504 regulations, managing social work service caseloads, and leading initiatives to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate.

The School Social Worker collaborates closely with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to promote student well-being, engagement, and academic success.

Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
• Full or Limited Michigan School Social Worker Certification (approved by MDE).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a school or educational setting preferred.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and McKinney-Vento legislation.
• Proficiency with PowerSchool, Special Programs, and digital case management systems.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
• Training in PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed care preferred.
