Patient Access Representative

Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative at the Regional Epilepsy Center is responsible for coordinating patient access to medical care by managing admissions, scheduling diagnostic procedures, and facilitating communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers. This role requires knowledge of hospital policies, insurance authorization processes, and third-party reimbursement to ensure smooth delivery of services and optimal patient experience. Responsibilities:

Coordinate patient admissions and scheduling of epilepsy surgical workups and inpatient admissions.
Arrange diagnostic procedures and schedule services with various hospital departments.
Ensure compliance with insurance coverage requirements, including pre-admission authorizations.
Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and medical services to facilitate care delivery.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to patient access and scheduling.
Utilize knowledge of hospital policies and procedures to support patient care coordination.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a medically related or public relations field.
Minimum two years of experience in a tertiary patient care setting with interaction across medical services, patients, families, and physicians.
Proficiency in medical terminology.
Excellent attendance record.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience with insurance pre-authorization and third-party reimbursement processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with electronic medical records and scheduling systems.

Special Considerations:

Work is performed onsite at the Regional Epilepsy Center.
Position requires adherence to hospital policies and procedures related to patient access and insurance coordination.
No night, weekend, or holiday shifts required.

Scheduling:

Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding state holidays.
Standard daytime shift with no weekend or holiday work.
