Occupational Therapist (part-time)

New School San Francisco takes a multidisciplinary approach to support diverse learning needs within an Inclusion model. The Occupational Therapist plays a dynamic role in observing and evaluating the need for school-based occupational therapy services across Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. As a member of the Diverse Learners Team, the Occupational Therapist provides quality services to students and their families, designs intervention supports that meet students' dynamic learning profiles, and participates on Individual Education Plan and Coordination of Services Teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current license by the California Board of Occupational Therapy
• Proof of liability insurance
• Experience with language techniques, sensory motor integration, and physical restoration
• Clearance of TB test, fingerprinting, and any other State/Federal requirements
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide occupational therapy initial assessments and reassessments for children with occupational therapy needs
• Document evaluations in a thorough and professional manner that meets New School’s standards of excellence, as well as standards in the field
• Provide occupational therapy services to students in support of their needs and treatment goals
• Work with students to develop their gross and fine motor skills, sensory motor regulations, as well as their posture and movement
• Work collaboratively with other Diverse Learners Team members including, Speech and Language Pathologists, Special Education Teachers, School Psychologists, Clinicians, and Instructional Aides
• Provide in-depth occupational therapy consultation for teachers, providing professional insights for early OT interventions for their students as well as support with implementation of accommodations and modifications
• Assist in providing in-service training in gross and fine motor skills, sensory motor regulations, as well as posture and movement to parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals and paraprofessionals regarding occupational therapy
• Assist in coordinating, communicating and seeking consultation with community agencies as appropriate
