GIS Technician II

Additional tasking may involve testing, integration, implementation, and technical support of GIS platforms. The chosen candidate will also provide recommendations toward the development of new data structures and applications. The GIS Technician will often review datasets for quality assurance. Attention will primarily be focused on supporting utility industry enterprise GIS services.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the consistency of data in enterprise geodatabases and GIS data conversionCoordinate updates of features and attributes in enterprise geodatabasesUse editing techniques to develop, manipulate, and edit vector and raster data setsRevise maps and map products using GIS cartographic concepts, principles, and processesCreate and modify geographic data from a variety of sources, such as Internet repositories, paper documents and hand drawn maps, Microsoft Excel files, text files, database tables, Google Earth files, CAD files, etc.Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job under immediate supervisionRegular interaction with Actalent GIS staff, Designers, and EngineersRegular interaction with client GIS staffEducation and Experience RequirementsBachelor's Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or another related field desiredAssociate Degree with equivalent experience will be consideredExposure to Esri applications, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Portal for ArcGIS (or ArcGIS Online), Collector for ArcGIS, and Survey 123 for ArcGISExposure to Esri application programing interfaces (API), including ArcPy, Arcade, and JavaScript for ArcGISRequisite Abilities and SkillsWorking knowledge of GIS concepts, including editing environments, mapping projections, data conversion, map production, cartographic design principals, and digitizingAbility to translate or convert data between GIS file types, such as importing KML files into geodatabases or exporting ArcGIS layers to other formatsAbility to perform research to find and download GIS data from outside sourcesUnderstanding and ability to prepare metadataBasic knowledge of Windows operating systemBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelDemonstrated ability to work with others in supplying information and seek assistance as necessaryStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated problem solving skills and initiativeJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Tempe, AZ.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
