Project Accountant

Atlanta, GA A highly established Atlanta-area commercial general contractor is seeking a Atlanta, GA A highly established Atlanta-area commercial general contractor is seeking a Project Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will support multiple construction projects and work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal accounting staff. Key Responsibilities Billing & Accounts Receivable Prepare and submit owner billings and invoices Assist with AIA billing, lien waivers, sworn statements, and supporting documentation Track billing status and help ensure deadlines are met Assist with outstanding receivables and collections as needed Accounts Payable & Vendor Management Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices Verify coding and route invoices for approval Maintain required subcontractor documentation including COIs, W-9s, and lien waivers Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding invoice and payment questions Project Accounting & Documentation Maintain organized project accounting files and documentation Assist with audit requests and project closeout Support final billing and financial documentation Help ensure project files remain accurate and compliant Team Collaboration Work closely with Project Managers and the accounting team Respond to project-related financial questions Communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, and vendors Support accounting processes across multiple active projects Qualifications Accounting, Finance, Business, or related education or experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong communication and follow-through Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Construction accounting, AP, AR, billing, or project accounting experience is helpful, but not required For someone looking to grow their career in accounting, this role offers strong exposure, hands‑on responsibility, and the opportunity to develop alongside an established Atlanta‑area contractor.
