Day-in-the-Life: Build Precision From Blueprint to Bench

Join a leader in tooling and plastic injection molding in Clinton Township, MI. As a direct-hire Injection Mold Toolmaker, you’ll own the craft of building, fitting, assembling, troubleshooting, and repairing molds that keep production moving—primarily through hands-on manual machining.

Your Morning : You arrive for first shift, review detailed blueprints and drawings, map out your machining sequence, and gather materials and gauges. You’ll plan each step to hit customer specs and project deadlines.

Mid-Day : You set up and run manual equipment—Bridgeport mills and lathes—to machine components to print. You’ll also produce prototype molds using materials such as aluminum and bronze, keeping tolerances tight and quality high.

Afternoon : At the bench, you use precision hand tools to fit and assemble mold components, gauges, and mechanical parts. You’ll collaborate closely with CNC programmers to keep projects on track, identify issues early, and finalize assemblies that meet exact requirements. If a mold isn’t behaving, you’ll diagnose the cause and make targeted adjustments or repairs. Throughout the day, you maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

• Build, fit, assemble, repair, and modify molds and related tooling for production use
• Translate blueprints/drawings into a clear machining and assembly plan
• Operate manual Bridgeport mills and lathes with confidence and precision
• Bench-fit and assemble precision components using hand tools
• Create prototype molds from aluminum, bronze, and similar materials
• Troubleshoot mold performance and implement corrective actions
• Partner with CNC programmers to complete projects efficiently
• Validate final work to customer specifications and timelines
• Uphold a safe, orderly workspace

• Hands-on experience in mold making, mold repair, or closely related tooling
• Strong manual machining background, including mills and lathes
• Fluency in reading blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Solid understanding of machining methods, applied math, and metal properties
• Proven experience fitting and assembling precision components
• Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving instincts
• Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion
• High school diploma; vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience

• First shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
• $30–$35 per hour, based on experience
• Overtime may be available or required depending on workload
