About the Role

Lakeside Mechanical Services is looking for a seasoned Commercial/Industrial HVAC Lead Installation Technician to join our team in Northern Colorado. This is not a repetitive install position. It's a technically demanding senior role built for someone who thrives on variety, complexity, and ownership of their work.

You'll be leading and executing commercial and light industrial HVAC installations across a wide range of project types, with a heavy focus on complex retrofits, replacing aging systems with modern equipment in occupied, active facilities. That means planning ahead, coordinating logistics, solving problems before they happen, and executing with precision. Some days you're leading a crew. Some days you're working solo. You need to be equally comfortable in both.

What You'll Be Doing

Project Leadership & Planning

• Lead pre-job planning and preparation including material staging, sequence of work, and coordination with the Construction Manager
• Identify potential field conflicts early and communicate solutions before they become job-site problems
• Perform job closeout including as-built documentation, startup reports, and punch list completion
• Coordinate with other trades on the job site as needed to keep work moving

Installations & Technical Execution

• Install, replace, and commission a wide variety of commercial and light industrial HVAC systems including rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, hydronic systems, and associated controls and accessories
• Execute complex retrofits, removing existing systems and installing new equipment in existing commercial facilities with minimal disruption
• Perform startup and commissioning of newly installed equipment to manufacturer specifications
• Diagnose and resolve installation-related issues in the field and perform basic service and troubleshooting when needed
• Perform compressor replacements and other major component changeouts as required

Team & Quality

• Lead, mentor, and support junior installers on the job site, setting the standard for quality, safety, and professionalism
• Perform final quality checks on all completed work before closeout
• Complete field paperwork accurately and on time including work orders, startup documentation, and time tracking
• Represent Lakeside Mechanical Services professionally at customer facilities at all times

What We're Looking For

Experience & Credentials

• 7 to 10 years of hands-on commercial and/or industrial HVAC installation experience. This is a hard requirement, not a preference
• EPA Section 608 Universal certification required
• Demonstrated experience with system startup and commissioning
• Proven experience performing complex retrofits and equipment replacements, not just new construction installs
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required

Technical Skills

• Strong working knowledge of commercial rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, and hydronic HVAC systems
• Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings, submittals, and equipment specifications
• Compressor replacement and major component changeout experience
• Basic controls and wiring knowledge sufficient to complete and verify installations
• Familiarity with OSHA job site safety requirements

Compensation & Benefits

Pay

$30 to $50 per hour depending on experience and certifications
