This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and packaging machinery in a large, climate-controlled warehouse environment. The maintenance engineer ensures that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably by performing scheduled maintenance, diagnosing issues, and implementing corrective actions. The position involves working with a variety of automated equipment and mechanical systems while supporting continuous operations across extended shifts.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot issues on production and packaging machinery to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
• Perform mechanical and basic electrical repairs on a wide range of equipment, including label applicators, bag sealers, box formers, case formers, case sealers, print-and-apply systems, glue machines, stretch wrappers, side sealers, shrink systems, heat tunnels, and case tapers.
• Schedule and execute maintenance work for all equipment, ensuring adherence to planned maintenance intervals and priorities.
• Analyze and diagnose equipment problems and breakdowns using appropriate tools, documentation, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Recommend appropriate service and repair actions to resolve equipment performance issues and improve reliability.
• Make equipment repairs and modifications to address operating and performance problems, following safety and quality standards.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery in accordance with company procedures and maintenance policies.
• Follow all maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and company policies during inspections, repairs, and equipment adjustments.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support equipment history and future planning.
• Collaborate with operations and other team members to coordinate maintenance work and minimize impact on production schedules.

• At least 1 year of maintenance experience in a distribution or warehouse facility.
• 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience or applicable technical schooling.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical systems in an industrial or warehouse setting.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair automated packaging and material handling equipment.
• Basic electrical knowledge related to industrial machinery maintenance.
• Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
• Strong diagnostic skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and performance issues.
• Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and company policies.
• Comfort working extended shifts (e.g., 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday–Sunday) in a warehouse environment.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to established safety protocols while working with machinery.

• PLC experience and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.
• HVAC experience in an industrial or warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with automated packaging and warehouse equipment such as label applicators, bag sealers, box formers, case formers, case sealers, print-and-apply systems, glue machines, stretch wrappers, side sealers, shrink systems, heat tunnels, and case tapers.
• Interest in progressing into lead or senior technician roles as the maintenance team expands.
• Willingness and ability to work various shifts, including weekend and evening schedules, as needed to support operations.

You will work in a modern, climate-controlled warehouse environment that supports comfort and safety throughout your shift. The facility spans approximately 600,000 square feet, with plans to significantly expand the maintenance team, creating clear opportunities for growth and advancement, including potential movement into lead positions. The scheduling structure offers long weekend shifts with the flexibility to pick up additional hours during the week to reach full-time levels, supporting work-life balance while maintaining stable income. Work Environment

The role is based in a large, climate-controlled warehouse setting with extensive production and packaging equipment. You will work around industrial machinery such as label applicators, bag sealers, box formers, case formers, case sealers, print-and-apply systems, glue machines, stretch wrappers, side sealers, shrink systems, heat tunnels, and case tapers. Primary weekend shifts run Friday through Sunday from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with the option to pick up hours during the week to reach a 40-hour schedule. Additional shift options in other locations include first shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) and multiple day and night shift patterns (e.g., Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.), as well as senior technician schedules from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday–Friday. The environment requires appropriate industrial work attire suitable for a warehouse and maintenance setting, with a focus on safety gear and compliance with all facility safety standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $29.25/hr.
