Overview Support Banfield Pet Hospital’s Los Angeles market by ensuring hospitals meet performance goals focused on OGSMs, the Five Principles, the Associate Concept, and direct leadership. Hire, coach, and develop Practice Managers and partner with the Director of Veterinary Quality and Area Chiefs of Staff to operate an effective and productive hospital team, maintain a safe and engaging environment, and improve medical quality and business performance. Responsibilities Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and the team. Create and build a culture of Preventive Care in each hospital, ensuring teams understand the foundation and delivery of Optimum Wellness Plans. Develop, coach, and support each Practice Manager to lead hospital teams, ensuring high‑quality care and service to pets and clients while maximizing efficiency, productivity, and profitability. Develop the skills of paraprofessionals through clear communication of expectations and performance. Ensure compliance with all practice protocols, policies, and procedures, and with local, state, and federal laws (OSHA, Hazard Waste, business permits, and assets protection audits). Enforce all Banfield standards and continuously build the brand in connection with all medical and non‑medical standards. Oversee overall hospital leadership and paraprofessional retention within the market. Develop a performance development plan (PDP) and conduct a formal review of each Practice Manager at least once a year; for hospitals without a PM, develop a PDP and conduct a review for each paraprofessional. Create a culture of exceptional engagement with market doctors, veterinary technicians, and leaders. Support the Director of Veterinary Quality and ACOS in maximizing doctor engagement and retention. Ensure effective execution of OGSM performance, including financial results for all area hospitals, and partner with the DVQ to deliver on quality and compliance KPIs and the quality OGSM. Own recruitment, hiring, coaching, supervision, and mentorship of PMs, Veterinary Technicians, and paraprofessionals in the assigned market. Support the DVQ in recruiting, hiring, coaching, and supervising doctors in hospitals, maintaining the LVT school relationship and external sourcing. Manage market quarterly inventory and hospital invoice approvals. Manage effective doctor scheduling and ensure hospital leaders provide effective paraprofessional scheduling to meet business needs. Perform all other job duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience. Five years of experience in a multi‑location service industry. At least three years of line‑manager experience. Experience hiring and staffing, leading people, and developing next‑level leaders (preferred). Medical background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) is preferred. Special Working Conditions Requires 80% travel. All regional leaders must live in the assigned region and maintain a home office. Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking English). Must solve problems involving several variables. Hands‑eye coordination and visual acuity needed for keyboard and equipment use. Work environment may require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties. Potential for moderate noise; pets present in the environment. Salary The pay range for this role is $124,735.28 – $179,678.35, based on experience, skill level, and education.
