Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned College Advisor to guide high school and college students through every stage of the admissions process. This is a part-time, contract role ideal for an experienced educator or admissions professional who values flexibility, autonomy, and meaningful one-on-one work with motivated students and families.

Candidates must have direct, hands-on experience supporting students through a full Common Application cycle – from building the college list to submitting final applications and reviewing results. This requirement is essential and non-negotiable.

What You’ll Do

Meet virtually with students to provide individualized, high-touch guidance through the full college planning process.

Lead students through the complete Common Application cycle, including building and refining a balanced college list, completing the Common Application and supplements, crafting essays and personal statements, developing resumes and preparing for interviews, managing timelines, reviewing submissions, and ensuring application accuracy.

Offer strategic advice on testing, application positioning, and financial aid.

Help families interpret admissions outcomes and navigate next steps (waitlists, transitions, and early college readiness).

Maintain consistent communication with students and parents to ensure clarity, accountability, and momentum.

Collaborate with Novella Prep’s team to share insights, ensure quality, and refine best practices.

You bring 10+ years of experience in college advising, admissions, or related educational roles.

You’re a clear communicator who builds trust with both students and parents.

You’re detail-oriented, organized, and thrive in a virtual, professional environment.

You love helping students gain not just admission – but clarity, confidence, and direction.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience mentoring or managing other advisors.

Familiarity with data-informed approaches to student growth and college placement.

A deep passion for education, lifelong learning, and empowering students to reach their full potential.
