HUMANE HANDLING MANAGER
HOURS:
- Flexible as required/Responsible for all 3 shifts
- Saturday hours as needed
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Verify That all humane handling SOP’s are being carried out, including scheduling, unloading, training, handling of non-ambulatory animals, driving and stunning.
- Monitor, audit and document each of these activities.
- Collect information on sources of high stress animals in order to provide feedback for improvement by the supplying producers.
- Insure that livestock truck drivers are certified in TQA training, provide training as required and maintain training records.
- Assist with contingency planning and providing proper care for animals in event of major plant delays.
- Serve as facility liaison for USDA-FSIS in matters related to humane handling.
- Correlate with QA and Product Management as to impact of animals handling on meat quality.
- Insure that animals are being properly transported by monitoring equipment and seasonal preparation, working with Procurement to provide timely notification to producers.
- Monitor animals for visible defects which may impact on yields or quality, providing information to Procurement for feedback to producers.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs various other tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Related four year degree preferred.
- Knowledge of our industry beneficial
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to demonstrate effective people skills
- Computer skills and knowledge of basic office software necessary
- Trustworthy – Will be handling confidential material
- Good attendance record
- Self -tarter
- Team Player
- Resume required

As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base annual salary range of: 63k-68k
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
