Chief Inspector

ABOUT THE ROLE

Techno is seeking an experienced Chief Inspector to support major infrastructure improvements in the Long Island region. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful roadway and infrastructure projects that enhance mobility, safety, and connectivity across one of the most heavily traveled transportation networks in the state. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and confident in the field. You will play a key role in ensuring construction work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans and specifications while working closely with engineers, contractors, and project teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Perform daily field inspections of roadway, drainage, utility, and transportation infrastructure construction activities Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements Inspect materials and workmanship to verify adherence to quality standards Maintain detailed daily reports documenting labor, equipment, materials, and site conditions Track installed quantities and assist with verification for contractor payments Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project teams to address field issues and maintain project progress Observe testing of construction materials and installations to ensure compliance with specifications Attend field meetings and communicate construction progress, issues, and resolutions Maintain accurate photographic and written documentation of construction activities Support a safe work environment by monitoring contractor compliance with jobsite safety requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

NICET Level II or III Certification or a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field Minimum 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation or roadway infrastructure projects Experience working within NYSDOT Region 10 strongly preferred Strong understanding of roadway construction practices, materials, and inspection procedures Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents Experience preparing daily reports, quantity calculations, and field documentation Strong communication and coordination skills for working with contractors, engineers, and project teams Familiarity with construction documentation systems and field reporting tools Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Long Island region We offer not only a competitive salary but also a robust benefits package including enrollment in our 401(k)-retirement savings plan, comprehensive dental, health, and vision insurance coverage, as well as life insurance. The expected salary range for this role in the New York Area is $85 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
