Role Description This is a full‑time Associate role based in Walnut Creek, CA, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. The Associate will manage civil litigation matters from initial intake through resolution, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and correspondence. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include appearing in court for hearings and trials, taking and defending depositions, participating in mediations and settlement conferences, and communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and experts. The role also involves advising clients on risk management and business counseling issues, analyzing contracts and policies, and helping develop strategies to prevent or mitigate disputes. The Associate will collaborate with partners and other team members, maintain organized case files, meet deadlines, and contribute to the firm’s professional and ethical standards. Qualifications Strong litigation skills, including legal research, motion practice, discovery management, and case strategy development. Experience or interest in civil practice areas such as real estate, construction, premises liability, personal injury, employment, and business disputes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, persuasive pleadings, briefs, and client communications. Ability to independently manage a caseload while collaborating effectively with partners, colleagues, and staff in a hybrid work environment. Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills to support trial work, risk management, and business counseling. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California Bar. Prior civil litigation or clerkship experience preferred; experience in federal and California state courts is a plus.
