Job Description Job Description Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) * Reports To: Registered Nurse (RN), Director of Nursing (DON), or Designee * FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Rate: $14.00-$16.50 (DOE) * Employment Type: Full-Time &/or Part-Time * Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO * Location Type: Onsite - McKinney, Texas, United States * Work authorization: This job requires US work authorization * Skills: Vital Signs, Injections, Electronic Health Records (EHR)Medical, Terminology, Direct Patient Care, Interpersonal Skills, Attention to Detail * Number of Hires: 2 POSITION SUMMARY The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides direct clinical support to residents under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed provider for our Group Homes for our IDD Residents and/or our Assisted Living Facility (ALF). The CMA may administer medications in an ALF in accordance with facility policy, physician orders, HHSC regulations, and documented training and competency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Medication Administration: - Administer medications as permitted in a Type B ALF per physician orders and MAR - Follow the Seven Rights of Medication Administration - Administer oral, topical, inhaled, ophthalmic, and otic medications - Document medication administration accurately - Observe and report side effects, refusals, or medication errors - Store and secure medications per policy Clinical Support: - Obtain and document vital signs - Monitor resident condition and report changes to RN - Support infection control practices - Assist with basic clinical tasks as delegated Documentation & Compliance: - Maintain accurate documentation - Follow HHSC, TAC, and facility policies - Maintain HIPAA compliance - Participate in audits and quality improvement Resident Support: - Provide respectful, trauma-informed care - Promote resident dignity and safety - Follow abuse, neglect, and exploitation reporting requirements QUALIFICATIONS - High School Diploma or GED - Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or equivalent) - Current CPR/BLS certification - Ability to pass background check SCOPE OF PRACTICE The CMA functions as unlicensed assistive personnel and performs tasks only within delegated authority. The CMA does not independently assess, diagnose, or change medications.
