Physical Therapist - Inpatient (PRN/Pool)

Position Summary Works with patients who have impairments, limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. The Physical Therapist role includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and interventions toward achieving the highest functional outcomes for each patient or client. Schedule Approximately 20 hours per month (about 2–3 shifts monthly, shifts typically lasting 8–10 hours). Must cover at least one weekend shift per month, and one major and one minor holiday each year (may include a weekend shift around the holiday). Preferred availability on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, but open to other days as needed. Responsibilities Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings, family, and significant others. Develops treatment plans integrated with the continuum of care, with specific goals and objectives, and treats accordingly. Demonstrates competency in the use, care, and maintenance of profession-specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose. Demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served. Re‑evaluates and modifies treatment plans and goals when appropriate. Applies principles of growth and development over the lifespan. Interprets data reflective of the patient’s status to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age‑specific needs. Provides care as described in unit/area/department policies and procedures. Communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from physical therapy. Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice. Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing. Provides patient/family education as indicated. Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in physical therapy. Licensure/Certification: Current Physical Therapist license in the state of Florida—renewed every two years; must maintain CPR certification and complete continuing education as required by the State Practice Act.
