Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Critical Care preferred, will consider strong candidates with less experience. License: Virginia or Compact License required at the time of submission. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Strong neuro experience required (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke), proficiency in telemetry monitoring, IV drip titration, and conscious sedation management. Description: Chesapeake is located in a beautiful area known for its outdoor recreational activities. The region offers trails for all levels of hikers and over 20 waterways to explore. Candidates must have strong neuro experience, including post-neurosurgical care, management of external ventricular drains, and stroke management. Experience with ventilators, IV drip titration, and dysrhythmia management is required. Travelers must be willing to float to stepdown units and potentially to other areas to care for ICU patients. Patient populations include neurosurgical cases, post-stroke patients, respiratory and renal failure, trauma, and sepsis. Candidates should have a minimum 3:1 patient ratio experience. Experience with EPIC charting is mandatory. Candidates cannot have any prior license or background hits. Fit testing history will also be reviewed, and any issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration. An EKG proficiency test is required prior to starting. Modules will be required to be completed before the start date.
